Mark idhar hai: ‘Real’ Shashank Singh engages light-hearted banter with PBKS owner Preity Zinta

The Punjab Kings had picked the 'wrong' Shashank Singh at the IPL 2024 auction. Although they clarified that they always wanted to pick the 32-year-old batter.

All the wrong results have been turned right for the Punjab Kings. A ‘mistake’ pick by the franchise has worked wonders for them. The 32-year-old Shashank Singh, whom they acquired last December for just Rs 20 lakh, has repaid them dearly. The right-handed batter, who’s played just four matches in the IPL 2024 season, has already won two matches for PBKS.

After his match-winning 61 off 29 balls, the batter was applauded by none other than Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta for his fabulous knock. In a video uploaded by the franchise, Shashank Singh takes a cheeky dig at both himself and the franchise.

“Hi guys, the ‘real’ Shashank, remember!” The batter can be heard saying this in the video. Zinta quipped, “Yes, this is the real Shashank, and you know how he’s the real Shashank?”

Taking a filmy approach and taking inspiration from the movie Andaz Apna Apna, Shashank Singh said, “Mark idhar hai yaad rakhna (the mark is here; do remember).”
