After taking the Punjab Kings (PBKS) to an incredible victory, Ashutosh Sharma has opened up about his struggles. The 25-year-old talked about how an ex-coach nearly derailed his career and caused him such mental anguish that he was on the brink of depression.

Ashutosh, who used to play for Madhya Pradesh, recalled, “There was a time when I wasn’t even allowed to get a feel of the cricket ground.” Although the Punjab Kings batter did not name Chandrakant Pandit, given the fact that he was dropped from his domestic side after Pandit had taken on the role of head coach.
He further added, “I would go to the gym and retire to my hotel room. I was sinking into depression, and no one told me what my fault was. A new coach had joined Madhya Pradesh, and he had strong likes and dislikes, and despite scoring 90 odd in 45 balls in a trial match, I was dropped from the team.”
Despite tearing it up last season, Ashutosh Sharma wasn’t given a chance due to his ex-coach’s strong dislike for him. He wasn’t even allowed to enter the ground, and he wasn’t sure what he had done wrong.
“I had three fifties in six Mushtaq Ali games in the previous season, yet I wouldn’t even be allowed to go to the ground. I was very depressed,” he added.
