Jofra Archer likely to return vs Pakistan, Rob Key says pacer in scheme of things for T20 WC 2024

Archer last played an T20 match on May 6, 2023. The speedster has since tried his luck in domestic cricket and is hoping to return to international cricket in May.

With Ben Stokes already out of the T20 World Cup 2024, the English cricket team needs Jofra Archer now more than ever. The express pacer played a big part in England’s first-ever ODI World Cup title run in 2019 and became one of the most fearsome bowlers in world cricket, having made his debut just one month before.

Being the defending champions much is expected from the England team. When asked about the possibility of Jofra Archer returning to the team for the event in the West Indies and USA in June, ECB Director Royal Key said, “Absolutely,” to Sky Sports.

Jofra Archer’s recovery & return date

When asked about his recovery and how the speedster is preparing for the event, Key said:

“He has now gone back to the Caribbean, where he’s going to play a bit of club cricket, all looking to get himself ready for the T20 World Cup.”

Key also gave a possible return date for Jofra’s comeback; he stated that we might see him against Pakistan in the 4-match T20I series scheduled to be played from May 22 to 30.

“He’ll hopefully play in the series against Pakistan, but it’s always fingers-crossed at the moment with Jofra,” he concluded.
