Suryakumar Yadav to save MI’s sinking ship, batsman declared fit by NCA

Suryakumar Yadav has been India's most important T20I batsman over the years, and is the no. 1 batsman as per the ICC rankings, in the format.

In a massive positive news for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024, their star batsman Suryakumar Yadav is finally match fit, and will most likely feature in their next match against Delhi Capitals, at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. As per a report in the Indian Express, Suryakumar has been declared fit by the NCA.

It is further revealed in the report that the BCCI and NCA physios did not want to take a chance with Suryakumar Yadav, and that’s why didn’t play him in the first three matches, that the team lost.

More on MI

“He is fit now. The NCA made him play a few practice games and he looked good. He can join the Mumbai Indians team. We wanted to be sure that when Surya goes back to MI, he is 100 percent fit and ready to play games. He wasn’t feeling 100% during his first fitness Test before the IPL, so we waited to see if there was any pain while he was batting,” a source in the BCCI confirmed.

Suryakumar Yadav had suffered a grade 2 tear in his ankle during IND vs SA T20I series, and was later diagnosed with post op hernia. The twin injuries kept him away from the game for almost four months.

MI Struggles

In the absence of Suryakumar Yadav, the team’s batting has looked a bit rusty with the youngsters not being able to deliver till now. New skipper Hardik Pandya too has been ineffective till now, be it his leadership, or even his batting or bowling. The team needs its batsman, fit and in top form.
