Rumours and social media are an affair that can’t be stopped and KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty are the newest victims of it. Recently, a light-hearted comment by Athiya’s father, Suniel Shetty, on a dance reality show sparked rumours of the couple expecting their first child. Speculations were circulating that Athiya and KL Rahul might be gearing up to welcome a new addition to their family. However, there is absolutely no truth in the statements saying so.
What sparked the rumour?
During a recent episode of the popular dance reality show Suniel Shetty, who serves as a judge alongside actor Madhuri Dixit Nene, jokingly talked about becoming a grandfather. Following a playful banter initiated by the show’s host, Bharti Singh, Suniel quipped that when he returns to the show next season, he would be walking on the stage like a grandpa.
“Yes, next season when I come (On Dance Deewane), I will be walking on the stage like a nana.” said Suniel.

Is Athiya Shetty really pregnant?
No, sadly KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty are not expecting their first child. According to a report by the Hindustan Times, speculation surrounding the pregnancy rumors is unfounded. The report states that Suniel’s comment about becoming a grandpa was made in jest and in a lighthearted manner. His remarks were misinterpreted by many as something serious. It was all in good humor, and Suniel himself is surprised by the reactions it garnered. He never intended for this buzz to arise. Unfortunately, some individuals have misconstrued the situation based solely on snippets of the conversation circulating on social media.
The report further clarifies that KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty are happily married and content with their current phase of life. While they do plan to start a family eventually, there is no truth to the current pregnancy speculations. They will share their happiness with everyone when the time comes, as is the tradition in the Shetty family. For now, they hope that the playful exchange on the show is taken in the spirit it was intended and not blown out of proportion.
