The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed revision to its IPL 2024 schedule for two upcoming matches due to security concerns coinciding with the festival of Ram Navami.
The Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) home clash against the Rajasthan Royals (RR), originally slated for April 17th, will now be played a day earlier on April 16th. In a domino effect, the Gujarat Titans’ (GT) match against the Delhi Capitals (DC), previously scheduled for April 16th, will now be held on April 17th. This ensures both matches can take place without security complications.
This decision comes after the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) informed the BCCI about their inability to guarantee adequate security personnel on the original date due to Ram Navami celebrations.
GT vs DC & KKR vs RR Match Rescheduling
S NO. | Fixture | Old Day & Date | New Day & Date | Venue |
1 | GT vs DC | 16April (Tuesday) | 17 April (Wednesday) | Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad |
2 | KKR vs RR | 17 April (Wednesday) | 16 April (Tuesday) | Eden Gardens, Kolkata |
This last-minute shuffle highlights the complex logistics of managing a major sporting event like the IPL in a country with a diverse calendar of festivals. The BCCI’s flexibility in adjusting the schedule ensures fans can still witness these exciting encounters.
