Stuart Broad urges RCB to drop all-rounder Cameron Green to strengthen bowling line-up

Green, who was traded from MI for over Rs 17 crore, has not been able to put in clinical performances, scoring just 54 runs and taking 2 wickets in 3 matches.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru fans are going through a tough phase at the moment. With no IPL trophy to their name, RCB were expected to perform with renewed vigour in IPL 2024, specially after their women’s team won the WPL title earlier. However, similar woes haunt RCB in IPL 2024, with Faf du Plessis’ team winning only one of their first three matches. Former England pacer Stuart Broad has urged RCB to make some ‘brave’ changes in a bid to turn their fortunes around. Broad has urged the RCB management to drop Cameron Green in a bid to strengthen their bowling attack.

Cameron Green was traded from Mumbai Indians by Royal Challengers Bengaluru ahead of the start of IPL 2024 season for a whopping Rs 17.5 crore. However, in spite of playing in the first three matches, Green hasn’t been able to get going. The all-rounder has scored 54 runs in three matches and has taken only two wickets. Broad felt dropping Green in favour of an overseas bowler will enable RCB to defend 180-190 runs.

Yes, it’s a brave decision to drop Cameron Green after whoever made that decision to trade him for such a lot of money. It’s a brave decision to leave him out of the starting 11 because it’s sort of going against what you believed at the start of the season, but I don’t think that team is balanced. I don’t think it looks right.

And if they’re getting 180-190, I don’t see them defending them at the moment. So, bring in two overseas bowlers and say yeah, I’m happy with the batting I think we’ve got that covered and see where it gets you,” Broad said.
