Boo Hardik Pandya, face detention: Mumbai Police to fans ahead of MI vs RR, IPL 2024 clash

Pandya has faced the fury of fans on and off the field ever since he replaced Rohit Sharma as Mumbai Indians captain in December last year.

After facing jeers from the crowd in Ahmedabad and Hyderabad, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has decided to take some action to protect Hardik Pandya. The newly appointed Mumbai Indians skipper has been at odds with fans on the field and off it as well.

The star all-rounder was booed by his home crowd against the Gujarat Titans and wasn’t spared by the fans during the high-scoring affair at the Uppal Stadium either. The amount of abuse the MI skipper has received has forced the MCA to take some strict action against those who try to harass Hardik Pandya during the MI vs RR match at the Wankhede Stadium on April 1.

Mumbai Police to remove fans causing nuisance from the crowd

To take control of the situation, the MCA has decided to eject and detain people who are caught abusing Hardik Pandya at the Wankhede Stadium. In what is the first home game of the season for the Mumbai Indians, one can expect a lot of disgruntled fans to take aim at Pandya.

According to Lokmat Marathi, “MCA has bolstered security and will closely monitor the crowd during the match. Anyone caught harassing or trolling Pandya will be detained and potentially ejected from the stadium. Still, police have the considerable challenge of containing Pandya’s critics among the spectators before Mumbai’s first home game against the Rajasthan Royals.”
