The Royal Challengers Bengaluru dressing room resembled a disappointed lot after the defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB coach Andy Flower after the game tried to lift the spirits up of the team with a powerful speech. However, Flower also applauded the bowling efforts of KKR and hailed the performers of the RCB team.
RCB batted first in the Chinnaswamy Stadium and scored 182 with Virat Kohli scoring 83 not out. Chasing 183, KKR openers Sunil Narine and Phil Salt produced an electrifying start, scoring 85 in 6 overs. Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer saw the game through after being provided the platform.
Andy Flower, speaking in the dressing room after the game said, “Firstly, we know its a good chasing ground. It was going to be harder to defend 180 odd runs. It is a fact that we don’t want to ignore. But they did outbowl us with their variations, you got to give that to them.
“One of the great things about this game are, we are constantly challenged. And no matter how experienced or inexperienced we are, we always have to find solutions. We have got some talking time, some thinking time and some training time as well,” Flower added.
RCB captain Faf du Plessis asked the team to find ways to improve after the disappointing performance.
“Make sure our converstations in the next few days revolves around how can we get better and how can we learn from tonight,” du Plessis said.
