The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had a special meeting in Lahore yesterday. Headed by chairman Mohsin Naqvi, the main agenda of the meeting was regarding the captaincy of the Pakistan Cricket Team. The selection committee members brought out their recommendations. Furthermore, there were extensive talks about the appointment of 2 foreign coaches for the Men in Green.
The Pakistan Team is currently devoid of any head coaches. Reports claim that the PCB is in close talks with Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie. Further reports claim that there won’t be a single head coach. The duo if they accept the offer will mentor the side in different formats of the game.
Reports claim that Gary Kirsten will be entrusted with the duty to mentor and coach the Pakistan Cricket Team across white ball formats. On the other hand, former Aussie pacer Jason Gillespie would be handed the responsibility to coach the team across red-ball format.
Apart from the head coaches selection, there were also also extensive discussions regarding the appointment of other coaches and support staff for the team. It also remains to be seen who will be appointed as the captain of the team. Mohsin Naqvi will be the person to choose the captain of the team ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup.
