After severe criticism, ‘We love you Hardik’ & ‘Nation supports Hardik’ trend on X

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been at the receiving end of the franchise fans, ever since he was chosen the skipper over Rohit Sharma last year.

To put it simply, MI skipper Hardik Pandya has been subject to overt hate and criticism during this IPL 2024, where the fans at stadium have hurled abuses at him, called him names, and even chanted ex-captain Rohit Sharma’s names in front of him. If that’s not enough, his captaincy and performance as a whole has been brought under the scanner, in only the two matches he has played as MI captain so far.

Finally Hardik Pandya Gets Support

Is this all justified for a player, who has been a star performer for India, and lifted the IPL trophy once as a leader with Gujarat Titans in 2022. Of course not. And it seems like there is a realisation of sorts, on one section of the fans. ON Thursday, a day after MI registered a heavy 31-run loss against SRH, where Hardik wasn’t at his best, the fans extended their support.

In fact, on X, two trends made waves. The social media platform was flooded with tweets on ‘We Love You Hardik’, and ‘Nation Supports Hardik’. The former had over 20k tweets on it, while the other one had over 15k.

Ordinary Performance So Far in IPL 2024

In the two matches he has played so far in IPL this year, he has scored only 35 runs and picked up only one wicket. What’s important to note is that he’s appearing in the tournament after a long injury layoff, that he had suffered during the World Cup 2023.
