Sri Lanka on Monday took a 1-0 in the two-match BAN vs SL Test series when they beat Bangladesh by 328 runs. Bangladesh needed to chase a huge 510 runs in the fourth innings for the first Test, but fell well short when they were bundled out for just 182 runs in the fourth innings.
Sri Lanka on the front-foot from first innings
Sri Lanka were coming on the back of a 2-1 loss to Bangladesh in the BAN vs SL ODI series and were determined to start the Test series on a positive note. Bangladesh on the other hand were nowhere near their best in the Test match, losing to the visiting team within four days.
No way back for Bangladesh
Bangladesh won the toss and put Sri Lanka to bat first. The visitors scored 280 in the first innings courtesy of centuries from Dhananjaya De Silva and Kamidu Mendis. In reply, Bangladesh were all out for 188 with Vishwa Fernando, Kasun Rajitha and Lahiru Kumara sharing the 10 wickets among themselves.
Sri Lanka posted a huge total of 418 in their second innings with Dhananjaya De Silva and Kamidu Mendis scoring centuries in the second innings too. The Sri Lankans were all out 418, leaving Bangladesh to chase 510 in the fourth innings. Kasun Rajitha, who took 3 wickets in the first innings, produced another magical performance to pick up a fifer and hand Sri Lanka the lead in the 2-match series.
