There were a lot of noise around Sri Lankan players before IPL 2024 began. Whether Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) would allow NOC (No Objection Certificate) to players still recovering from injuries was the big question. However, Chennai Super Kings have their man Matheesha Pathirana arriving for IPL 2024 ahead of CSK vs GT match. But will he be in CSK Playing XI vs GT? That remains a big puzzle. There is also Shardul Thakur, who was benched for Tushar Deshpande. But barring any niggles Shardul is likely to feature on Tuesday.
Mustafizur Rahman out?
Pathirana is crucial to CSK’s plans for death over bowling. But the youngster suffered a hamstring injury ahead of IPL 2024. Now, he is fully fit. However, whether CSK would rush his return to Playing XI remains the question.
But more importantly, if Pathirana has to play, he will have to replace Mustafizur Rahman. The Bangladeshi pacer bowled an incredible spell against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the first match with 4/29. And it is highly unlikely that CSK will drop Mustafizur. Hence, Pathirana will need to wait for his chance in CSK Playing XI.

Shardul Thakur in Tushar Deshpande out?
Chennai Super Kings are likely to go with almost the same team except for two changes. Seamer Tushar Deshpande proved expensive in the last match, giving away 47 runs without a wicket in his four overs.
Ruturaj Gaikwad might decide to play Shardul Thakur in CSK Playing XI in his place. Apart from the bowling, Shardul can prove handy with the bat.
