Shubman Gill is showing all the signs of a great T20 captain. Leading an IPL team for the first time at his home ground, with over 1 lakh people watching against the 5-time champion Mumbai Indians, Gill somehow still emerged victorious. Staring in the face of defeat, with just 43 runs needed in 30 balls for MI to win, the 24-year-old made some bold decisions and eventually came out on top.
After stealing away a memorable win from the jaws of defeat, Gill credited his team’s ability to handle the pressure as the major factor behind the win. Talking with Ravi Shastri in the post-match interview after winning the MI vs GT match, he said:
“The way the boys held their nerves with dew coming in was outstanding. The way our spinners bowled made sure we were always in the game. It’s all about holding your nerves. We just wanted to build on the pressure and wait for them to make mistakes.“

Talking about the home support and how the slowness of the pitch ended up aiding them, he said:
“The crowd is one thing; they have always come, whether it is a day game or a night game, and shout out to all the fans who have come here to support us. I thought that was a good score, but we definitely left at least 15 runs there; it was hard to hit those short balls as the wicket got a bit slow towards the end.“
