Future India captain: Netizens lavish praise on Shubman Gill after beating Hardik Pandya’s MI

In what was the first time Gill was leading a side in the IPL, the 24-year-old stood apart and looked like the more experienced captain on the field.

Leading the side for the first time in front of 1 lakh people at your home ground, and that too against 5-time champions, isn’t an easy task. However, Shubman Gill showed poise and went about his business in a calm and collected manner, handing Hardik Pandya’s Mumbai Indians a shocking 6-run defeat.

The 24-year-old backed Spencer Johnson to bowl the 19th over after the bowler had 18 runs in his first over. He used a short leg for Tim David in the 17th over of the match and gave Mohit Sharma the 18th over to ensure enough pressure was built so that the next two bowlers had room to work with.
