IPL 2024: Statistics galore! Andre Russell, Arshdeep Singh create records in Saturday’s double header

IPL 2024's first double header saw a lot of records being created, Here, we bring you a round up of all the statistics from the Saturday's matches.

A Saturday to remember! IPL 2024’s first double header saw Punjab Kings take on Delhi Capitals in the first match while Kolkata Knight Riders hosted Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second match. Punjab Kings started their IPL campaign with a win as Rishabh Pant’s comeback was unable to inspire Delhi Capitals. In the other match, Kolkata Knight Riders managed to get the better of Sunrisers Hyderabad in a closely contested tie. However, both matches threw up a lot of statistical highlights. Lets take a look.

PBKS vs DC Statistical Highlights

Punjab left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh on became the 4th highest wicket taker for Punjab courtesy of his two wickets against DC. Arshdeep now has a total of 59 wickets for the franchise.

Shikhar Dhawan lost his wicket to Ishant Sharma for the fourth time in IPL across 8 innings. The explosive opening batter has only been able to score 41 runs of 39 balls against the pacer. Did we hear someone saying ‘Bunny’?

David Warner has now scored 1,134 runs against Punjab Kings. The Aussie opener has a fantastic average of just under 50 against the Punjab franchise. On Saturday too, he played a quickfire knock of 29.

KKR vs SRH Statistical Highlights

Andre Russell scored his first half-century against SRH on Saturday. He has been not out on 49 in three different occasions against the Orange Army earlier.

SRH gave a worthy chase to KKR’s total of 208 on Saturday. In doing so, they smashed 15 sixes against their opponents, breaking their previous record of hitting 13 sixes in a single innings.

Andre Russell on Saturday became the 9th player in the history of IPL to hit 200 sixes. Russell hit 7 sixes enroute to his 25-ball 64.

Andre Russell and Rinku Singh stitched a partnership of 81 runs for the 7th wicket, marking KKR’s highest stand and the fifth-highest stand overall for the 7th wicket or below.
