Happy to be alive: Rishabh Pant lays bare feelings before making his comeback to cricket in IPL 2024

Pant will be making his comeback to cricket after more than 14 months. He suffered a horrific car accident in December 2022 and has been out of action since.

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant opened up on what it felt like to be back on the cricket pitch. Pant, who suffered a horrific car accident in December 2022, will return to cricket after more than 14 months when he takes the field for Delhi Capitals’ first match against Punjab Kings in IPL 2024.

In a video released by Jio Cinema on their Twitter handle, Pant was asked about his feelings when he wore the pads for the first time after returning to the ground from his lengthy break.

It felt amazing. I wouldn’t be able to describe the feeling by words. I felt mesmerised by my feelings. It didn’t feel like I was playing for the first time, but it didn’t feel like I had done this before. I wouldn’t be able to possibly describe my feelings,” Pant said.

He was asked if he feels any pressure as this is one of the most anticipated comebacks in T20 cricket.

Pant said, “I’m happy to be alive. If I was dead, then all these things would hold no meaning. I have a brother who told me ‘you’re alive and in a position to make a comeback in cricket again’. So it is important to enjoy the moment rather than pressurising yourself.”
