Chris Woakes and Sikandar Raza yet to join Punjab Kings squad, Sanjay Bangar hints at new player’s inclusion

The franchise's Head of Cricket Development however did not provide a name of the new signing when pressed upon.

Punjab Kings are battling issues of their own even as the IPL 2024 nears its start. The franchise’s Head of Cricket Development Sanjay Bangar on Wednesday announced that two of their foreigners, England seamer Chris Woakes and Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raza are yet to join the squad. Bangar also said the team is awaiting another player’s inclusion but refused to provide the name of the player.

Punjab Kings will have a tough job at hand when they take field in IPL 2024. Shikhar Dhawan’s team are yet to qualify for the playoffs in the last decade, having reached the tournament’s final in 2014. After the loss to Kolkata Knight Riders in the final of 2014, Punjab Kings have consistently underperformed in IPL, getting knocked out from the group stages in each edition.

Shikhar Dhawan and co. will look to turn the fortunes of the franchise around in IPL 2024 but face issues along the way.

On being asked if the new inclusion will be an oversees or domestic player, Bangar said, “Sorry, I can’t answer that.”
