GT spinner Rashid Khan re-enters top 10 of ICC Men’s T20I Bowler Rankings after heroics against Ireland

Rashid Khan was out of the cricket with a back injury after the ODI World Cup. He returned to play the T20I series against Ireland and made instant impact to climb to the 9th place of the latest bowler rankings.

Afghanistan and Gujarat Titans spinner Rashid Khan on Wednesday re-entered the top 10 of the ICC Men’s T20I Bowler Rankings. Rashid, who was out of cricket after the ODI World Cup, came back into Afghanistan’s team for their T20I series against Ireland. Rashid made an instant impact, taking the player-of-the-series award home in Afghanistan’s 2-1 win in the series.

Courtesy of the powerful performance, Rashid rose four places in the rankings updated by the ICC on Wednesday and currently sit at the 9th place. The news will definitely come as a big boost for Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans who will look to build on their good performance from the past two seasons. Rashid’s impact would surely delight the Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2024.

Rashid Khan suffered a back-injury after the ODI World Cup and had to undergo surgery to permanently fix the problem. The ace spinner has been out of competitive cricket since, missing a lot of series for Afghanistan. However, he came back into the Afghanistan team for their T20I series against Ireland and played a crucial role. The leg-spinner took 8 wickets in the series and played some crucial knocks as well to help his team triumph in the series. As a result, he was awarded the Man-of-the-Series award. His performance helped him re-enter the top 10 of ICC Men’s T20I Bowler Rankings.
