Rajasthan Royals leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal on Friday posed an unusual request to team management: The leg spinner padded up at the Rajasthan Royals net and demanded to bat as an opener.
In a video posted by Rajasthan Royals on their X (previously Twitter) handle, Yuzvendra Chahal was seen padding up and hitting the Rajasthan Royals net with the demand of opening the innings for the franchise. Of course it was all done in a playful manner, with Chahal even challenging to uproot Jos Buttler’s highest score in the tournament.
However, Chahal in the video can be seen saying, “Joss (Buttler) bhai, I’m the new opener. How many (runs) did he score? 870? I’m going to score 1000.” Notably, Joss Buttler won the Orange Cap in IPL 2022, scoring 863 runs for Rajasthan Royals in that outing.
