IPL 2024: Ex-India opener picks Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Dhruv Jurel as players to look out for

Robin Uthappa also revealed an incident to emphasize how Yashasvi Jaiswal obsesses over cricket all the time.

Indian Premier League has always been popular for picking young talents and providing them with a chance to excel at the biggest stage. The IPL has provided Indian team with some fantastic players such as Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Suryakumar Yadav and many more. Former Indian batter Robin Uthappa on Friday picked three players that he thought would excel in IPL 2024.

Uthappa, talking in an episode of Jio Cinema Legends Lounge, picked Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Dhruv Jurel as the three players to look out for in IPL 2024.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is coming on the back of a fantastic series vs England where he scored a massive 712 runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad has been very successful for Chennai Super Kings in IPL and has broken into the Indian team in limited overs cricket. Dhruv Jurel impressed one and all with his batting and keeping in the series vs England.

I worked closely with Yashasvi when he came into the IPL in 2020 with RR. He’s a bit of a cricket nut. He’s obsessed with the game. He knows nothing but cricket. He lives, breathes, and eats only cricket. You’ll see him walking off randomly on the beach, talking to himself and figuring his game out. An example of a practice session he had with the RR Academy was that he went into practice at 2 in the afternoon and finished at 12:45 at night and just kept batting,” Uthappa said on Jaiswal.

Another one of those for me is Ruturaj Gaikwad. He’s an all-format player and should have played for India a lot more than he has but the competition is so much that he hasn’t played much. Another one that’s coming up the ranks is Dhruv Jurel. I really like him. He’s one for the future and I think he plays that finisher’s role with panache,” Uthappa added.
