e Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) announced a significant increase in the prize money for the Ranji Trophy, doubling the amount in celebration of Mumbai’s 42nd victory at the renowned Wankhede Stadium. Following their impressive triumph over Vidarbha, an additional sum of Rs five crores will be presented to the Ranji-winning Mumbai team.
Ajinkya Naik, the secretary of MCA, conveyed in a statement that the decision to double the Ranji Trophy prize money was made by MCA president Amol Kale and the Apex Council.
Expressing pride in the association’s achievements, Naik highlighted Mumbai’s success in winning seven titles and reaching the knockout stage in all age groups in BCCI tournaments throughout the year.

In the thrilling match, Vidarbha chose to bowl first and limited Mumbai to 224 runs in their initial innings. Notable contributions came from Shardul Thakur (75) and Prithvi Shaw (46). Mumbai seized a commanding 119-run lead as they dismissed Vidarbha for 105 runs in their first innings.
The lead extended to 537 runs, fueled by Musheer Khan’s century and significant contributions from Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, and Shams Mulani. Mumbai’s bowlers, led by Tanush Kotian, restricted Vidarbha to 368 runs in their chase of 538, securing a 169-run victory. Musheer Khan was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ for his outstanding century and impactful bowling performance.
