‘Will he walk again?’ Rishabh Pant’s mother biggest concern after DC star’s accident

‘Will he walk again?’ Rishabh Pant’s mother biggest concern after DC star’s accident

Following his car accident, it was uncertain whether Pant would ever return to cricket again. But after a 15-month gap, the wicketkeeper batter will take the field on March 23 against the Punjab Kings.

One can’t imagine the anguish Rishabh Pant’s mother would have faced when she got the dreaded call on December 30, 2022. To hear that her son had gotten into a horrible car accident while he was making his way to Roorkee for a surprise visit. Instead of getting an early morning surprise, his mother, Saroj Pant, had to live through the nightmare of worrying about her son’s health and future.

Being a cricketer, Rishabh Pant has been worried about whether he’ll be able to play again, but his mother only cared about his overall health. His doctor, Dinshaw Pardiwala, revealed that his mother’s biggest concern was whether my son would be able to walk again.

Rishabh’s mother was very concerned about whether he’d ever be able to walk again. I said, look, we’ll make sure that he walks again without a limp and that he’s like anyone normal. Because it’s such a severe injury, we’ll aim for him to get back to cricket, but it’s going to be a long drawn-out process.

His doctor further revealed that when he told Rishabh Pant that he was going to be out of action for 18 months, he wasn’t able to accept it and stated that he’d do anything to be ready in just 12 months. Detailing how many issues Pant had to deal with after multiple injuries, including lacerations and knee dislocation, the biggest issue is the mental side of such an injury.

Not being able to perform simple tasks after being an elite athlete for multiple years was going to be a challenge for the Delhi Capitals skipper, but he endured the mental and physical hardships to return to full fitness after 15 months.
