After skipping IPL 2024, Jos Buttler hopeful that Jofra Archer will be available for T20 WC

England captain Jos Buttler has hinted at a major boost for the upcoming T20 World Cup, suggesting star fast bowler Jofra Archer could be available for the tournament.

Jofra Archer recovery

Jofra Archer has been sidelined for a year due to an elbow injury. His last competitive cricket came during England’s tour of Bangladesh in March 2023. He attempted a comeback in the IPL later that year but suffered a stress fracture, forcing him out once again.

Hope on Horizon for England Cricket Team

However, after extensive rehabilitation, there’s optimism surrounding Archer’s return. “We all know his talent,” said Buttler, “and it’s been tough for him to miss out.” The England skipper remains positive, highlighting Archer’s dedication to recovery and the collaboration with medical professionals. “He’s working incredibly hard, and you can see his desire to return.”

Archer: Crucial Piece of Puzzle

Archer’s impact on the English team is undeniable. He burst onto the scene right before their victorious 2019 World Cup campaign, even bowling in the dramatic super over against New Zealand. Unfortunately, injuries plagued him since then, limiting his appearances across formats. His absence was felt during England’s T20 World Cup defense in Australia last year and the recent 50-over World Cup in India.

Signs of Progress and missing IPL 2024

Despite missing the IPL 2024, Archer recently rejoined the England squad for training in the Caribbean. He also surprised many by playing a match for his former school team, further fueling hopes of a comeback.

“It’s exciting to see him potentially return to top form,” expressed Buttler, acknowledging Archer’s game-changing abilities. “He’s a bowler you trust with the ball in crucial moments, and his presence is a huge asset for the entire cricketing world.”

Jofra Archer is currently training in India with his county side Sussex in preparation for the English season. The T20 World Cup kicks off on June 2nd across the West Indies and the United States, with England’s first match against Scotland scheduled for June 4th in Barbados, Archer’s birthplace. With the World Cup approaching, fans and the England team alike will be eagerly awaiting Archer’s potential return.
