One of India’s top shuttlers Lakshya Sen, who managed to reach the semis of the French Open 2024 last week, is finally in the reckoning to make it to the Paris 2024 Olympics. Courtesy of his last four finish recently, Lakshya went up two place in the Olympic Qualification Rankings, to be placed at No. 15th right now.
It is important to note that only the top 16 players in the Olympic Qualification Rankings, will go to Paris 2024. Lakshya has 59221 qualification points, as of now. Fortunately for India, he is not the only Indian in the men’s single, who is in contention for Paris berth.
World Championships bronze medalist HS Prannoy is in eighth spot in the qualification rankings. But he is likely to lose some points, after his first round exit at the All England Open, after he lost versus Su LY of Chinese Taipei. As far as the women’s singles is concerned, PV Sindhu is the only Indian in the fray to qualify.
She is in 11th spot in the qualification rankings. Then in men’s doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are in the second spot, and are all but confirmed to go to Paris. In women’s doubles, India is likely to see the representation from Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa, who are in the 11th spot currently.
