Mumbai vs Vidarbha LIVE, Day 4: Mumbai continued their relentless dominance in the Ranji Trophy final against Vidarbha, setting a mammoth target of 538 runs after a monumental batting display. The young prodigy Musheer Khan (136) spearheaded the batting charge, while established stars Shreyas Iyer (95) and Ajinkya Rahane (73) made significant contributions. On Day 4, Vidarbha face mountain to climb at Wankhede Stadium.

Karun Nair, Akshay Wadkar consolidate Vidarbha

As the Vidarbha top order faltered early, Karun Nair and Akshay Wadkar led the charge with Vidarbha chasing a mammoth 583-run target against Mumbai. A unbeat 70-run knock by Nair in 214 deliveries along with 42 runs from Akshay Wadkar saw Vidarbha going up to 222/4 in 86 overs after being stuck at 133/4 in 58 overs.

Musheer Khan Shines Again

Following his unbeaten double century in the knockout stages, Musheer Khan continued his impressive run with a patient and well-constructed 136. He batted for over 470 minutes, facing 326 deliveries and peppering his innings with 10 boundaries. Khan’s knock provided crucial stability to the Mumbai batting lineup.

Shreyas Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane Add to Run Feast

Shreyas Iyer, often in the headlines for off-field reasons, silenced his critics with a flamboyant 95. His innings showcased a diverse range of strokes, including a six launched over the bowler’s head. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane chipped in with a solid 73, contributing to Mumbai’s growing total.

Vidarbha Left with a Herculean Task

Despite facing a depleted Vidarbha attack missing their key bowler Aditya Sarwate, Mumbai displayed cautious optimism, acknowledging that two days remain in the match. They ended their second innings at a commanding 418 runs, leaving Vidarbha with a mountain to climb.

Vidarbha Openers Begin Second Innings

Openers Dhruv Shorey (7*) and Atharva Taide (3*) navigated the final two overs of Day 3 unscathed, but the enormity of the task ahead remains. Vidarbha will need a near-miraculous batting display to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Can Mumbai Secure Their 42nd Title?

With a massive lead and two days remaining, Mumbai is firmly in control of the Ranji Trophy final. However, they will be wary of complacency as Vidarbha has shown fighting spirit throughout the tournament. The upcoming two days promise an intriguing battle as Mumbai aims to secure their 42nd Ranji Trophy title, while Vidarbha desperately seeks a historic comeback.
