Royal Challengers Bangalore Women on Tuesday qualified to playoffs of WPL 2024 for the first time in their history. In a must-win game, Smriti Mandhana’s team produced a dominating performance against Mumbai Indians Women to achieve victory by 7 wickets. RCB, who failed to qualify for the playoffs in WPL 2023, brushed off their disappointment of last year with some magnificent performances this time round.
Smriti Madhana’s team on Tuesday needed a dominating win to confirm their playoff berth. RCB-W won the toss and elected to field. Ellyse Perry starred for RCB, taking 6 wickets to cripple the Mumbai Indians batting line-up.
MI were bundled out for 113, leaving RCB with 114 runs to qualify for the playoffs. They did so in style after losing few early wickets. Richa Ghosh and Ellyse Perry remained not out on 36 and 40 respectively to take RCB home with 5 overs to spare.
RCB finished at 4th place in the WPL 2023 and could not qualify to the playoffs last time around. Smriti Mandhana and her team were determined to cross the final hurdle this time around and they did so in style.
