DC vs RCB Highlights: Delhi Capitals win last-ball thriller to qualify for WPL 2024 Playoffs

The Delhi Capitals have become the second team after the Mumbai Indians to qualify for the playoffs.

The Arun Jaitley Stadium is providing some of the best matches the Women’s Premier League (WPL) has ever seen. After Harmanpreet Kaur took the Mumbai Indians across the line, we have seen yet another last-over thriller in the DC vs RCB match.

Jemimah & Capsey continue their fine form

Although openers Shafali Verma and skipper Meg Lanning gave the Capitals a fine start, it was Jemimah Rodrigues and Alice Capsey who shone brightly. After her blistering 69* against the Mumbai Indians, Jemimah scored yet another fifty. The pocket rocket scored 58 off 36 balls, including 8 fours and 1 six.

Together, the duo stitched a 97-run stand, in which Jemimah scored the majority of runs. However, after she departed, Capsey took over. The Englishwoman was struggling at the start but let loose once her partnership was dismissed.

Although she missed out on her fifty, she ended up striking at 150, scoring 48 runs off 32 balls. She, along with Marizanne Kapp’s 6-ball 12-run cameo, helped the Capitals post 181 on the board.

Heartbreak for Richa Ghosh

While Ellyse Perry top-scored with an important 49 off 32 balls, the job of finishing the match fell on Sophie Devine and Richa Ghosh. The aggressive Kiwi smashed a couple of sixes to Radha Yadav, but her quick-fire 26 off 16 innings was cut short as she fell to Kapp in the 17th over.

As for wicketkeeper batter Ghosh, she struck some breathtaking strokes but suffered massive heartbreak after being run out on the last ball of the inning. Having scored 51 off 29, including a six on the second last ball of the match, it seemed that the match was on her bat.

A tired Richa mustered all her power but could only send the ball to Shafali Verma at point, who through the ball at the bowler’s end, and Jess Jonnasen held her nerve to break the stumps with a diving Richa, falling short by inches.
