The Big Bash League (BBL) is all set for a change with Cricket Australia readying to introduce a slew of new rules. As per ESPNCricinfo, CA will introduce a rule that provides multi-year deals for one overseas player for each side. The WBBL is expected be reduced to 40 games from the existing 56.
BBL set to get new rule
Teams will be able to agree a pre-draft multi-year offer with one overseas player. It will include a requirement for the player to make themself available for the entire tournament. Further, it prevents them leaving to compete in other leagues.
“The signed player will count towards the minimum of three internationals that must be selected by a club during the draft, taking up either a platinum, gold or silver-round pick depending on their salary. There will be no restrictions on who the player is, making it possible for clubs to poach another franchise’s overseas talent,” the report states.

WBBL to have reduced games
As per AAP, the decision on reducing the number of WBBL games from 56 to 40 is most likely. AAP has been told the women’s competition looks almost certain to move to a 10-round season in a similar format to the men’s.
