Kiwis continue domination on Day 4, leave Australia in perilous position

New Zealand dominated the proceedings on Day 3 of NZ vs AUS 2nd Test, leaving Australia in a tough position

New Zealand continue to have the upper hand at the end of play on Day 3 of NZ vs AUS 2nd Test. The hosts were bundled out for 374 runs, with Australia skipper Pat Cummins bagging four wickets. Henry and Sears brought the game back to the Kiwis’ hands with two wickets each, reducing Australia to 77/4.

Resuming the batting on Day 3. Latham managed to get only to 73 runs before Pat Cummins struck. Daryll Mitchell (58) cemented the lead further for New Zealand with a patient fifty. Tailender Kuggeleijn added fuel to the fire with his 44-run knock off 49 deliveries. Cummins ended the innings with figures of 4/62 while Lyon finished with 3/49.

Australia top-order crumbles

Steve Smith (9) was the first Australia batter to depart in the 2nd innings. Opening the batting, Smith fell victim to the Kiwis’ 1st innings hero Matt Henry as he was trapped for an LBW.

His protege Marnus Labuschagne (6) was the next to follow after a caught and bowled by Ben Sears. Henry struck yet again, this time bagging the wicket of opener Usman Khawaja (11). Cameron Green was the final victim on Day 3 as he was clean bowled by Sears. Australia now require 202 runs to win the game and have six wickets remaining.
