Gujarat Titans have been dealt a major blow in the form of as Harleen Deol is set to miss the remainder of the current WPL 2024 due to a knee injury, according to a report from Cricbuzz. Bharti Fulmali, a batter for Vidarbha, has been called up as a replacement player. She was seen warming up with the team on Wednesday, March 6, before their first game of the Delhi leg against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
In UP Warriorz’s chase against the Giants in Bengaluru – their third league game – Deol injured her already heavily strapped left knee while fielding, and she immediately hobbled off the field. The batting-all-rounder did not take the field since then. At the Giants’ match against RCB, Deol was sighted in Delhi, though she was not wearing the Gujarat Titans kit.
The Gujarat Giants were also concerned about vice captain Sneh Rana’s suitability for the game as she has now missed two straight games because of an unidentified illness. But according to Cricbuzz, Rana is fully recovered and will be available for selection for the Giants’ upcoming game on Saturday, March 9, against the Mumbai Indians, the reigning champions.
The Giants have suffered a great deal of injuries this season, but they finally managed to get on the scoreboard against RCB with a 19-run victory. Their pace department suffered two significant pre-tournament injury setbacks, the most significant of which was the uncapped fast-bowling sensation Kashvee Gautam, who cost INR 2 crore.
