The Nepalese government has provided a significant financial boost to the Nepal cricket team in preparation for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.
Five Crore Rupees allocated for Nepal Cricket Team
On Wednesday, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Nepal announced a grant of five crore rupees (approximately $600,000 USD) to the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN). This allocation aims to support the team’s training and preparations leading up to the ICC T20 World Cup.
Largest Ever ICC T20 World Cup
The 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup will be held jointly by the United States and the West Indies, starting on June 1st and concluding on June 29th. This year’s tournament will be the biggest in the event’s history, featuring 55 matches across nine cities.
Recent Performance and Looking Ahead
Nepal concluded a recent tri-nation series with a narrow four-wicket defeat to the Netherlands in the final match. Despite a strong batting performance led by Aasif Sheikh (47), Gulsan Jha (34), Kushal Malla (26), and skipper Rohit Paudel (25), they fell short of their target of 185 runs set by the Dutch team.
The financial support from the government will provide a much-needed boost to the team’s morale and resources as they strive to make a mark on the world stage at the T20 World Cup. The Nepali cricket team will look to build on their recent positive performances and aim for success in this prestigious international tournament.
