New day and another new controversy around the Kolkata Derby. With the fans, finally heaving a sigh of relief after the East Bengal vs Mohun Bagan Super Giant ISL 2024 game finally being scheduled, a new problem has arisen. East Bengal have been accused of unfair ticket pricing for the iconic game. The Kolkata Derby Tickets are now available for booking on the BookmyShow app.
Different Kolkata Derby Ticket Prices spark controversy:
Separate stands have been designated for supporters of the two teams, with ticket prices ranging from 100 to 1500 rupees. However, there has been discontent among some fans regarding the pricing.
Ticket prices are typically set to accommodate fans from various financial backgrounds, ensuring accessibility to the ground for all. This time is no different, with prices taking into consideration both financially strong and weak supporters. Nonetheless, Mohun Bagan supporters have voiced dissatisfaction with the higher ticket prices for their stand.
For East Bengal supporters, stands B1 and B2 offer tickets at 100 rupees, while A1 stand tickets are priced at 150 rupees. Home fans can purchase C1 right and C3 right tickets for 200 rupees. Conversely, the minimum ticket price for Mohun Bagan supporters is 250 rupees, with tickets available for stands B2 and D3, allocated specifically for Mohun Bagan supporters. VIP box tickets for East Bengal are priced at 1000 rupees, while those for Mohun Bagan are set at 1500 rupees.
As East Bengal is hosting the match, they have been accused of keeping the prices lower to provide added benefits to their supporters. This decision has sparked outrage among many Mohun Bagan Super Giants fans, who believe there should be no discrimination in ticket prices.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant condemn the act by Kolkata Derby rivals:
Speaking on behalf of the club, a Mohun Super Giant official told exclusively to Insidesport.IN that the club has strongly condemned this act of discrimination towards the fans.
“ Mohun Bagan strongly condemn the shameful act of unequal ticket prices by our rivals. Never in the 103 years of Kolkata Derby, this has happened. The prices have always been kept equal, but this is act is extremely against the spirit of the game that this iconic match stands for. “. the official stated.
“Keeping in mind what happened now, Mohun Bagan will also be taking a decision on whether to replicate the same when we host the rival team at the same venue. “
With this being said, the call to East Bengal from Insidesport.IN have been unanswered.
However, the final decision regarding ticket pricing lies with the organizing team. It’s worth noting that Mohun Bagan was the host last time and the derby prices were deemed a little higher which sporked some imminent criticism from fans. However, the defending ISL Champions gave away free tickets to everyone for their next game against Hyderabad FC at home.
However, nothing can marr the excitement of the Kolkata Derby, more of it is the last of the season. Despite the difference in ticket prices, there is a frenzy among fans with the demand for tickets. As soon as the sale of tickets started, many stands were completely sold out. The Kolkata Derby will be played on March 10th with the game time shifting from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the iconic VYBK Stadium.
