UP Warriorz have suffered a major blow to their WPL 2024 title contention chances. A talented 23-year-old batter and one of the most expensive picks of the auction, Vrinda Dinesh has been ruled out of the second edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
The right-handed batter had suffered a shoulder injury during the Mumbai Indians vs UP Warriorz match on February 6th. Although her injury did not affect the outcome of the match, Warriorz won the match comfortably. However, losing a batter they bought for a whopping Rs 1.3 crore at the start of the season doesn’t bode well for Alyssa Healy and Co.
The Warriorz have roped in wicketkeeper batter Uma Chetry as a replacement for Vrinda Dinesh, with a minimum of three matches still left in the season. Chetry has been brought into the side at her reserve price of Rs 10 lakhs.
The wicketkeeper batter had recently represented India A against England A and was also a part of the victorious India A Emerging squad that won the ACC Emerging Women’s Asia Cup 2023.
