Indian Premier League’s new season IPL 2024 is just over two weeks away. Franchises will once again vie to get their hands on the crown and some of the top batters and bowlers of the world will go head on to seek the much coveted Orange Cap and Purple Cap given to the highest run scorer and highest wicket taker respectively. Predictions have already started coming in about which cricketers will win the honours. Rajasthan Royals leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has made some surprise picks about the Orange Cap winner, leaving out his accomplished Indian teammates such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli or Shubman Gill.
In a video on his YouTube channel ‘JokerKiHaveli,’ Esports streamer Gulrez Khan asked Chahal to pick the top run-scorer of the upcoming season. Chahal jokingly named himself at first before backing two of his Rajasthan Royals teammates to be in the reckoning for the Orange Cap.
“Orange cap will go to (Yashasvi) Jaiswal or Jos Buttler,” Chahal said.
Chahal also predicted Purple Cap winner, backing himself to emerge as the highest wicket taker of IPL 2024. He also said Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan of Sunrisers Hyderabad will be the second-highest wicket taker of the season.
“I will take the most wickets. Second, Rashid Khan,” Chahal said.
