Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford on Sunday produced a spectacular goal to hand the red side of Manchester an early lead in the Manchester United Derby against Manchester City. Rashford scored the goal against the run of the play to help Erik Ten Hag’s side gain a lead against the run of play.
Manchester United started the Manchester Derby as underdogs against a City side that are aiming for their 4th successive Premier League title under manager Pep Guardiola. However, Guardiola’s side suffered an early jolt in the 8th minute of the game when Rashford produced a magnificent effort to bury the ball beyond Ederson into the Manchester City net.
Onana launched a long ball with a hoisted kick before Fernandes latched onto the loose ball outside the City area. The United captain offloaded back to Marcus Rashford, who powered a fizzing right-footed strike from 25 yards out. Ederson scrambled across but the forward’s effort cannoned off the crossbar and into the City goal. The VAR checks confirmed the goal stood ruling out a potential Fernandes offside.
United held on to their lead till half time as City failed to find a way to get back into the game.
