Kamran Akmal defends BCCI’s stance on snubbing contracts for Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan

Kamran Akmal lauds BCCI's strict stance in snubbing central contracts for Iyer and Kishan after missing domestic matches

Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan’s snub from the BCCI Central Contracts have made the headlines. Former Pakistani Cricketer Kamran Akmal claimed that the BCCI was right in issuing the strict rule. The rebel duo were axed off their contract for failing to play domestic cricket matches.

Both Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer’s dynamics are different. Kamran Akmal claimed that the BCCI was correct in taking the strict action to execute the damage control. He claims if the players don’t respect cricket, then it sends bad precedence to the youngsters.

“Shreyas Iyer played the first two Tests of the series. If you don’t value the cricket because of which you made it to the national team, what message is it going to give to all the youngsters?” said Kamran Akmal on his YouTube Channel.

Ishan Kishan returned home midway of the South Africa series and remained aloof. On the other hand Ishan Kishan was dropped after the second IND vs ENG Test. Iyer complained of back spasms, but the NCA chief gave a green signal, claiming Iyer was fit. Iyer missed Ranji Trophy matches claiming he was injured and thus saw him axed out of the BCCI Central contracts.

“BCCI has made the right call, taking such strict action early on to control the damage. If they had given them a levy and handed them central contracts, a lot more players would have started playing on their own terms in the future. India have given a message to their players to ensure that nobody even thinks of doing something like this the next time. This is proof of good management. Nobody is bigger than the game,” Akmal concluded.
