Vidarbha vs Madhya Pradesh, Day 2: Madhya Pradesh will be looking to take a big first innings lead on Day 2. MP bowlers put themselves in a commanding position on the first day of the Ranji Trophy semi-final against Vidarbha in Nagpur. They bundled out their opponents for 170 runs before ending the day at 47/1, trailing by only 123 runs.
Avesh Khan stars with ball:
Madhya Pradesh’s pace attack, led by Avesh Khan, did the damage for them. Khan picked up a four-wicket haul, including the crucial wicket of opener Dhruv Shorey early on. He was well supported by Kulwant Kehjroliya and Venkatesh Iyer, who took two wickets each.
Vidarbha batting woes:
Despite a decent start from openers Atharva Taide (39) and Karun Nair (63), Vidarbha’s batting faltered. They lost six wickets for just 36 runs, collapsing from a promising 101/2 to 137/8. The MP pacers were relentless, taking nine of the ten wickets, with left-arm spinner Kumar Karthikeya taking the final scalp.
Madhya Pradesh start cautiously:
Needing to avoid losing early wickets, Madhya Pradesh began their innings cautiously. They lost their opener Yash Dubey early, but wicketkeeper Himanshu Mantri (26*) and Harsh Gawli (10*) ensured they reached stumps without further damage.
Vidarbha vs Madhya Pradesh, Day 2: Ranji Trophy semi-final
Madhya Pradesh will be looking to press their advantage and build a significant lead on the second day. They will be confident of doing so, considering their strong bowling performance and Vidarbha’s below-par total. However, Vidarbha will be desperate to pick up early wickets and prevent the deficit from becoming insurmountable.
This semi-final promises to be an exciting battle, with both teams aiming for a place in the final.
