Pakistan cricket team star Bismah Maroof has ignited a crucial conversation by advocating for a dedicated women’s league, mirroring the success of the popular Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Bismah Maroof expressed her disappointment at the absence of women’s exhibition matches during the ongoing PSL 9, highlighting the need for a dedicated platform for aspiring female cricketers.

“There are no exhibition matches for women cricketers in PSL 9, which is disappointing,” she said in a media interaction.

Drawing inspiration from the success of the PSL, Maroof emphasized the importance of a women’s league. She pointed to the previous season’s exhibition matches, which featured participation from foreign players, as a testament to the positive impact on women’s cricket’s growth and recognition.

Maroof further emphasized the invaluable learning experience gained through playing alongside international players. “Playing with foreign players provides a great opportunity to learn, and sharing the dressing room also benefits,” she explained. “The skills improve, which is why our results improved after that.”

Looking ahead, she also discussed the upcoming series against West Indies, acknowledging its significant importance. “The series against West Indies next month is very important,” said the 32-year-old Bismah. “We will try to play according to the momentum created in the tour of New Zealand.”
