All-rounder Cameron Green saved the day for the Australia, as he scored his second Test ton, in the first match against New Zealand in Wellington, on Thursday. After being reduced to 89-4 early on in the innings, Green compiled a counter-attacking 103 (Not Out) in 155 deliveries, keeping trouble at bay.
At the end of the day, Australia finished at 279/9, largely due to Green’s efforts, who slammed 16 fours in his innings, and got some support from Mitchell Marsh (40). Meanwhile, it was fast bowler Matt Henry who led the charge for the Kiwis, picking up four wickets, William ORourke and Scott Kuggeleijn chipping in with two wickets each.
As far as other Aussie batsmen are concerned, openers Steve Smith (31) and Usman Khawaja (33), couldn’t make it count despite getting a solid start. Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head too fell early in their innings, which left their innings in tatters.
