Former Bermuda batsman David Hemp named Bangladesh’s new batting coach

Sri Lanka's Chandika Hathurusingha is currently the head coach of the Bangladesh cricket team.

In yet another change in coaching setup, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have roped in Bermuda’s David Hemp as their batting coach, while former Kiwi all-rounder Andre Adams was named the bowling coach on Monday. Hemp had been associated with the board since 2023, and served as the High Performance Head Coach.

Their first assignment will be the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, in March 2024, with both the coaches joining on a two-year contract.

Hemp & Adams Credentials

The 53-year-old Hemp, who played 22 ODIs for Bermuda, was first-class giant scoring over 15000 runs, and played for Glamorgan, Free State, and Warwickshire, in his long career.

After obtaining an ECB Level 4 Coaching Certification, he was appointed the head coach of the Pakistan Women’s National Team from 2020-2022. He was in a similar role with the Victoria State Women’s Team, and the Melbourne Stars in the WBBL.

On the other hand, Adams was with the White Ferns as their bowling coach. He had also worked with the Kiwi men’s team in their recent T20I series against Pakistan, and Australia’s Assistant Coach in their 2022-23 series against South Africa
