MI vs UPW: Warriorz get first win of WPL 2024 after bashing defending champions Mumbai Indians

Both the UP Warriorz and Mumbai Indians will remain in the same spot on the points table.

MI vs UPW, Match 6: A victory at last for the UP Warriorz. After two consecutive wins, Alyssa Healy and Co. have finally reached the finishing line for the first time in the WPL 2024 season. After a great bowling effort, their openers bashed every Mumbai Indians bowler equally to register themselves on the points table.

With Harmanpreet Kaur and Shabnim Ismail out with injuries, the Warriorz already had an advantage before the match even started. On top of that, Healy won the toss as well and chose to bat second. However, shoddy fielding with multiple dropped catches and no bowlers other than Grace Harris and Sophie Ecclestone performing saw the Mumbai Indians sail past the 160-run mark.

Despite an average bowling and fielding effort, Warriorz batters played out of their skin to take the side to a comfortable 7-wicket victory with 21 balls left. It was Healy herself and pinch-hitter Kiran Navgire who turned the game on its head. The openers stitched a 94-run stand in 9.1 overs, and a destructive 17-ball 38-run inning by Harris sealed the match for the Warriorz.
