WPL 2024: Not once, but Gujarat Giants concede overthrows twice in one ball

The Giants are defending just 127 runs, and the three overthrows left their skipper Beth Mooney scratching her head.

The Gujarat Giants have taken it upon themselves to provide entertainment to cricket fans. During the GG vs MI W match in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024, a comedy of errors was ensured as the Giants gave two extra runs of overthrows. The two runs aren’t the funny part, but rather GG threw two extra throws to give the Mumbai Indians a bonus.

Nat Sciver-Brunt tucked a ball by Kathryn Bryce to mid-wicket for a single. The fielder stationed there threw the ball at the striker’s end, and it deflected to take another single. Following that, there was another overthrow, but Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur decided to run against it.

But that wasn’t it. There is another overthrow after that, and this time Sciver-Brunt and Kaur take a single to give themselves not one but three runs. The fact that the Gujarat Giants were defending just 127 runs makes the three consecutive errors even more baffling.
