Indian cricket fans have time and again shown that they are lovers of the sport and not the Indian team itself. From applauding Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers against their very own to praising Bazball for their success in Hyderabad, Indian fans have shown their respect for the opposition.
The same was on display today when Ben Stokes and Co. reached their hotel after the end of the second day of play in the India vs England 4th Test. After taking the upper hand in the Ranchi Test, the English cricket team received thundering applause as they made their way to the hotel from their team bus.
Having started Day 2 at 302/7 with Joe Root and Ollie Robinson in the middle, England managed to score 51 runs for their last three wickets. With an above-par score on the board, despite being 112/5 at one point, Ben Stokes and Co. seemed confident. They started well, with James Anderson sending Indian skipper Rohit Sharma back.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill took control and stitched an 84-run stand. However, once Shoaib Bashir claimed his first wicket, the floodgates opened. India lost six wickets for just 91 runs. With India 177/7, England looked on top, but a post-tea partnership between Dhruv Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav has kept the hosts in the game for now.
