WPL 2024: Sajana earns high praise from Kaur, Lanning after last ball heroics

Both skippers Harmanpreet Kaur and Meg Lanning heaped praise on Sajana after her last ball six propelled MI-W to victory in WPL 2024 opener

S Sajana held her nerves to get Mumbai Indians across the line with a last ball six. MI-W took on DC-W in the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2024) opener in Bengaluru. Both skippers – Harmanpreet Kaur and Meg Lanning – are in awe of Sajana.

‘Wont be here if not for Sajana’: MI-W skipper Kaur

“She was smacking sixes during the practice session and she showed us tonight. We were looking to finish the game in the first 3 balls but we know we have depth in our batting, because of Sajana I’m standing here,” Kaur says at the post-match presentation.

Lanning in awe of Sajana too

“When we got Kaur out, we were in the game, but to come out and get a six like that first ball is pretty impressive,” Lanning said.

Sajana’s heroics power MI-W to win

The right-handed all-rounder entered the field with one ball remaining and five runs to get. Sajana came down the track and dispatched it over the long-on boundary to give the Mumbai Indians a famous victory.
