MI W vs DC W: It’s a Monday miracle on Friday! S Sajana has created history by hitting a last-ball six to take the Mumbai Indians across the line in the WPL 2024 season opener. The right-handed all-rounder entered the field with one ball remaining and five runs to get. Sajana came down the track and dispatched it over the long-on boundary to give the Mumbai Indians a famous victory.
The Alice Capsey show goes invain
The teenager put on a masterclass to start the WPL 2024 season with a bang. Having entered the field with her side at 1/3 in the third over, the strong Englishwoman changed the tempo of the match. She took calculated risks until the powerplay, scoring just 19 of 18 balls.
However, with skipper Meg Lanning and then Jemimah Rodrigues by her side, she exploded. The right-handed batter scored 54 runs in the next 35 balls to take the Delhi Capitals past the 140-run mark with 17 balls left.
Her 75-run knock consisted of 9 fours and 3 sixes. Capsey also ended the knock as the player with the highest score against the Mumbai Indians since the league’s inception last year.
However, the youngster’s masterclass went in vain, all thanks to S Sajana and her last ball miracle. Capsey was handed the ball to bowl the final over by her skipper, Meg Lanning. The off-spinner had done well so far, giving away just 7 runs in 5 balls. However, Sajana’s last ball six changed the complexion of the match and made the match hero the culprit for the loss.
