Rishabh Pant to captain Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, confirms DC co-owner

Rishabh Pant's return is a shot of adrenaline for the Delhi Capitals and their fans. With a determined leader, a strong squad, and key players like Nortje in top form, the team is poised for an exciting IPL 2024 season.

Delhi Capitals fans rejoice! Rishabh Pant, their beloved wicketkeeper-batter and captain, is confirmed to return to the field for IPL 2024, starting March 23. While he won’t be behind the stumps initially, his leadership and batting prowess will be a major boost for the team.

Rishabh Pant Remarkable Recovery:

After a horrific car accident in December 2022, Pant defied the odds with a remarkable recovery. He underwent successful surgeries and pushed himself beyond prescribed timelines, even participating in practice matches organized by the National Cricket Academy.

Leading the Charge:

Franchise co-owner Parth Jindal confirmed to ESPNcricinfo that Rishabh Pant will be fit for the IPL 2024 and lead the Capitals from the first match. However, due to his recent injury, he will focus solely on batting for the first seven games. A decision on his wicketkeeping duties for the remaining season will be made later.

Returning Home Later:

With the second half of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) scheduled in Delhi (including playoffs), the Capitals men’s team had to shift their home base for the early part of the IPL to ensure they didn’t start on tried pitches. They will return to the Arun Jaitley Stadium for their remaining five home games.

A Season of Hope: IPL 2024

Rishabh Pant’s return is a shot of adrenaline for the Delhi Capitals and their fans. With a determined leader, a strong squad, and key players like Nortje in top form, the team is poised for an exciting IPL 2024 season. Can they lift the coveted trophy this year? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure: the Capitals are back, and they’re ready to roar!
