NZ vs AUS 1st T20I: Tim David powers Australia home in a six-hitting thriller

Tim David plundered 31 off 10 balls, including a boundary on the final delivery to help Australia win in the NZ vs AUS 1st T20I on Wednesday.

Tim David‘s last over heroics powered Australia to a thrilling win in a high-scoring encounter in the NZ vs AUS 1st T20I at the Sky Stadium in Wellington on Wednesday.

Chasing 216, the visitors needed 32 runs in 9 deliveries when David unleashed. The Aussie all-rounder plundered 31 off 10 balls, including a boundary on the final delivery to help Australia register their third-highest successful run-chase in the shortest format.

Skipper Mitchell Marsh also starred in the innings with his unbeaten on 72 off 44 balls. The duo stitched a 44-run partnership off just 19 deliveries to guide their side home.

Australian openers Travis Head and David Warner, made a brisk start in the chase. Head scored 24, while veteran Warner hit 32 off 20 deliveries before the hosts sent them back in the hut.

Glenn Maxwell then hit a quickfire 11-ball 25 before getting dismissed by a searing yorker from pacer Lockie Ferguson.

Earlier, Rachin Ravindra (68 off 35) and Devon Conway’s (63 off 46) wrecked havoc against Australia’s star-studded bowling attack as New Zealand post 215 for 3.
