Ahead of IPL 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Abhishek Sharma has been summoned by Surat Police following the suicide of model Tania Singh in the Vesu area of Surat on Monday. The 28-year-old model, originally from Rajasthan and residing at Happy Elegance in Vesu, took her own life by hanging herself from the ceiling of her apartment, leading to shock and concern in the city.

Police have already gathered statements from five individuals, including friends and family, who recently communicated with Tania. Suspecting a potential love affair as the cause behind the suicide, investigators are examining the call details from her mobile phone.
Police Inspector BU Barad of Vesu Police Station mentioned that, according to call details, there had been no recent contact between the deceased and cricketer Abhishek Sharma. However, due to their friendship, Abhishek Sharma will be called for questioning.
Who is SRH star Abhishek Sharma?
Abhishek Sharma, known for his all-round abilities, has been a key player for SRH in the Indian Premier League (IPL). With 893 runs at a strike rate of 137.38 in 47 matches, including four half-centuries, and nine wickets to his name, Sharma has been a valuable asset for the team.
Participating in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2023-24 season for Punjab, Abhishek Sharma played four matches, scoring 199 runs at an average of 28.42 and taking three wickets with his left-arm spin.
Abhishek Sharma eyeing IPL 2024
Despite Punjab’s elimination in the group stage, Abhishek Sharma would have been planning for the IPL 2024 season, with SRH retaining him. However, the cricketer is now required to cooperate with the police investigation.
IPL 2024 is set to commence on March 22, and SRH, having faced challenges in the past three seasons, aims for a stronger performance. With notable signings like Pat Cummins, Travis Head, and Wanindu Hasaranga, the Orange Army seeks to secure their second championship in the upcoming tournament.
