Is this a dream: Dhruv Jurel recalls meeting ‘idol’ MS Dhoni in the IPL 2021

Jurel, 20 at the time, was playing his first-ever IPL season with the Rajasthan Royals, and now three years later, he has made his India debut.

After making his Test debut, Dhruv Jurel was on cloud nine. The 23-year-old wicketkeeper couldn’t describe what it meant to him. Luckily for him, he’s been in a similar position before. Three years ago, the Uttar Pradesh cricketer met with his idol, MS Dhoni, and much like after getting his maiden India cap, he was left speechless.

After a successful debut, the player narrates the story of meeting Dhoni and what he has learned from him since then.

In the video, Dhruv Jurel can be heard narrating how he met his idol during his maiden IPL stint with the Rajasthan Royals in 2021.

Is this MS Dhoni standing in front of me? I was pinching myself, thinking, ye koi sapna toh nahi (is this a dream?). Met him in 2021, my first year in the IPL. I went towards him, and I said, Sir, bhaiya (big brother) … sir … bhaiya, I was confused about what to say, and then I asked, Can I have one photo with you?

On how the captain cool has helped him throughout the years and that he’ll try to meet him during his stay in Ranchi for the India vs England 4th Test, he said:

Whenever I talk with him, he has worked wonders for me on the field. So, I’ll try to talk to him in Ranchi.
